If you would like me to rebuild planner with debugging options set or 
symbols, let me know and I'll do so in order to possibly provide better 
info.

Regarding this issue, I assume it may be a problem with the planner 
build on that machine.  Since that is the machine that the database 
resides on, I'd really like to get some input from anyone who is 
successfully using postgresql as the backend for planner with the 
database and client residing on different machines.

Eventually I do need to resolve the crash issue, as that is my primary 
development box and the box I'll be using planner from.
