Hello,This sounds strange. Have you installed some gtk related packages from the aur that might need a rebuild? BTW there is another round of discussion with me and GTK developers in the following issue. They are reluctant to make further accessibility related changes unless they can figure out the proper way on how to address accessible name calculation. The question is what is higher priority whether labelled by and described by relations or direct accessible name property. Part of the discussion are also edge cases how to proceed if there are multiple objects pointed to by labelled by / described by properties or when both accessible name and labelled by is set. Here is the most active accessibility related issue during recent days: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/4241 And here is a crash that prompted me to start this discussion: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/issues/4825
I wish if there would be a way so we can ask real accessibility expert such as Alexander Surkov to help move with this. https://www.igalia.com/team/asurkov Or can you suggest asking someone else near enough gnome and open-source ecosystem that might be able to set the right track for the accessibility related work on gnome?
I know that most urgent issue here are money. Is google paying for the accessibility related work for chromium? Is there really nothing more we can do here as a community?

Hi. I am receiving the following error when I try to execute gnome-contacts:(gnome-contacts:53519): Gtk-ERROR **: 16:34:26.012: GTK 2/3 symbols detected. Using GTK 2/3 and GTK 4 in the same process is not supportedOn 4/8/22 09:25, Peter Vágner via orca-list wrote:Hello,Finally I have figured out that gtk4 apps crashing right after launching them was my local issue. Once I have rebuilt orca it has started to work the way I expect it to. Presentation of all QT4 Vidgets is very unique since the key used to activate and the non localized role derived from the class name is spoken with each control but at least it's usable to an extend. Once I have managed to get gnome-control-center to work I am impressed that it is much more usable with the keyboard than it used to be. Some buttons are not clearly labelled but almost everything is accessible by using the keyboard alone including managing network connections VPNs, keyboard shortcuts and similar.Greetings Peter Dňa 8. 4. 2022 o 12:00 Peter Vágner via orca-list napísal(a):Hello,I have found out gnome-calculator is also a GT4 app and this one is working although flat review is not working with all GTK4 apps. gnome-control-center, gnome-text editor, fractal all of these are crashing for me at startup. gnome-contacts is also GTK4 app. This one is working but breaks flat review. When running gnome-contacts in a terminal, this is what I am getting...(gnome-contacts:60160): Gtk-WARNING **: 11:52:58.077: Screen coordinates not supported, reported positions will be wrong GTK4 accessibility is really implemented different to GTK3. When new button in the contacts app receives the focus, orca is reporting...GTK Image <space> Creates new contact Please can you try to verify at least some of these? Is something out of these tracked somewhere? The conclusion is that GTK4 and wayland have major accessibility implications for us and we either have to keep using outdated versions or finally start moving elsewhere. We can run mate, xfce, ratpoison whatever with curated selection of apps but the trend is there and we as a community can do nothing about it.Greetings Peter Dňa 7. 4. 2022 o 22:47 Peter Vágner via orca-list napísal(a):Hello,I apologize, I have mixed the numbers. I wanted to say Arch linux features gnome 42 and I have problems with all the GTK 4 apps when using them on gnome 42.If you can, it would be great to reproduce what I am seeing. Greetings Peter Dňa 7. 4. 2022 o 22:20 Peter Vágner via orca-list napísal(a):Hello,Arch linux now includes gnome 44 packages. After updating my system to gnome 44, I am still experiencing an issue where every GTK4 app I try to start exits with a segmentation fault and I don't know how to debug it. Unfortunatelly this also includes gnome control center known as settings.Have you also updated and can you reproduce this?
