Hi Mohammad,
Slint do not provide as many packages as Debian or derivatives but that
shouldn't be an impediment, here is why.
1. A complete toolchain is already included in the installed system and all
packages include the related development files: shared libraries and
headers.
2. In addition, as indicated in the book (search "Get additional
applications")
packages can be very easily built and installed from the building stuff
provided by volunteers @ https://slackbuilds.org. In the "development"
category
there are 637 entries at time of writing, some already included in Slint.
This is somehow similar to the AUR for Arch or the PPA from Ubuntu that
you may
have heard about.
To know more free to visit one of our support channel indicated in the book,
like the instant messaging channel #slint @ irc.libera.com
Whichever distribution you settle with, welcome to Linux!
Cheers,
Didier

Hi Didier,
Thanks a lot for the info and the book! I went over it and I was very
impressed with the great attention to accessibility! For me this is so
delightful to see such a care given to accessibility, hopefully others
will follow this way some day. I will consider this option definitely,
although I prefer a distro with a popular packages repo. If yours is
such a one, I will be happy for a correction. My purpose is to use Linux
for software development, windows of course can do this, but the
experience on Linux is much more interesting.
Regards,
Mohammad

Hi Mohammad,
the Slint distribution that I maintain has no issue with Mate and Orca.
Its installer is fully accessible as the installed system.
I send you the Slint Handbook (not yet released but already usable)
privately as
it's probably too big as an attachment for this list.
You can read it in any web browser as it is in html format.
Cheers,
Didier
