Why not run a couple tools and get informed?
First run lsblk and you'll get a partition table, this one won't harm 
anything.
Maybe you'll find something like sda with a number after it.  That's a 
partition.
If you find only sda, that's the whole disk.
Once you know that, it's time to get to root and run another tool.
If you found sda in lsblk output then run:
parted -a optimal /dev/sda
Then type in print and hit enter.
You'll get a table on the screen and in that table file formats will be 
listed.
If you find a column in it with ext2 or equivalent that's the column that 
shows the file formats.
Once you found that information out, type quit so as not to damage your 
disk.
You may have something like jfs in that column which is journal file 
system.
