I've made another test on Orca master with GTK 3.22 on Debian 9 
"Stretch" VM and I confirm your fix works on GTK applications.

A new release of GTK 3.24 is coming so we can wait a couple of days 
before to release new Orca after Arch users will be able to test with 
the new GTK3 release.
