Re: [orca-list] RFC: reporting spread sheet selection changes

I would not like Orca to speak the content of the selected cells because sometimes I have to select a huge number of cells, sometimes rows or columns.

It doesn't need to say all selected text, just the text of the last cell
currently in the selected range. For example, if you have A1 name, B1 ID
number, C1 Phone number, Orca should say something like the following, which
is a speech history transcript of a simple example in Excel. Note that A1 is
not announced as selected because it is assumed selected since the cursor is
in that cell.
Name A1
Select ID Number B1
Select Phone Number C1

It is ok to have the user press another shortcut key to get the entire
selected range, as the JAWS/Excel transcript shows below.
selected range A1 Name, C1 Phone Number

Subject: Re: [orca-list] RFC: reporting spread sheet selection changes

Making Orca say the entire range of selected cells plus all selected text
would make Orca entirely too chatty. Pressing a couple of keys once the
information is needed is not a bad thing. Anything else is information
overload and just leads to more confusion. Tl;dr, speech is not a fast
interface, and anything to make it less slow is the obvious better choice.
