I only say this because I had a machine where I did a quick install of arch
linux and I was not able to launch gnome-terminal.
I generated with locale-gen and all was fine again.

I have done a locale-gen several times this evening and this is the
normnal output I get:
Script started on Wed Apr 22 21:07:40 2015
[root linlap ~]# locale-gen
Generating locales...
  en_US.UTF-8... done
  en_US.ISO-8859-1... done
Generation complete.
[root linlap ~]# exit
exit

Script done on Wed Apr 22 21:08:00 2015

Interesting problem though, when I attempt to run gnome-terminal from
the gnome run dialog, I still get no terminal but I do get the
following messages in my systemd journal.
Apr 22 21:12:00 linlap org.gnome.Terminal[2217]: Non UTF-8 locale
(ANSI_X3.4-1968) is not supported!

Sorry for the truncation; not sure how to get journalctl to show full
line length. There is some mention of non utf-8 stuff but I have no
idea of the cause. I have never run into problems with gnome-terminal
until today.
