Janina,
I can also type a name into the user name box. However, for me, 
sometimes Orca doesn't switch to focus mode. I have to switch manually. 
Also, on some pages, Orca will start out in focus mode,then start 
intercepting keys. This happens most often on http://wellsfargo.com, and 
in the wordpress admin area on my website.
