Kendell, See Jose's post, and look at how Vinux does things now and howVinux 3.x handled them&compare.
With pulse you avoid issues like yours, or work around them by using separate log-ins, start speechd-up as
root from a
terminal emulator on many systems to get console speech. I do not know if this would have a similar effect
using espeakup,
but kind of doubt it.

hi all
I know I've been spamming the list lately and I'll do my best to cut back, but I just had to post this
somewhere. Orca
work just fine with pulseaudio, for the most part. The problem comes when you attempt to access a virtual
console with
speakup, whether it be via espeakup or speechd-up. I've been attempting to get the pulse devs to step in
and at least
help, but they don't seem to know why as soon as speech-dispatcher starts, speakup seems to fail. i can
confirm it is in
fact either speech-dispatcher or orca, because even with a graphical environment running speakup works
just fine. THe
moment orca starts speaking speech in the console stops. I'm about at the end of my rope with pulse. I want
to use it
because it's really handy when switching between my usb headset and my stereo speakers, but without console
access it's
a real drawback. Does orca, speech-dispatcher or pulse audio need improving, perhapse all three? I"m trying
to get other
people's opinions on what can be improved so I can hopefully get something done. Most people don't seem to
have any
issues with pulse, so it must be me. I don't use purely graphical, I mix graphical and text console, using
text apps
like my news reader, irc client and email, while I use graphical for firefox, and the rest. Does pulse
audio need some
sort of configuration change? I'm completely stumped. Feedback is most definitely welcome.
Thanks
