According to Sean Murphy:
# 1. Do you use the apps?
No.
# 2. If not, why not?
I use only Linux, Android and ChromeOS, none of which support Microsoft's
proprietary office products.
# 3. Which iOS apps do you use?
None. I only have an Android device.
4. The apps you use, what challenges do you find?
Of the Linux and Android apps I use, the biggest challenge appears to be
unlabeled controls. I can't comment on other operating systems and their apps,
as I don't use them.
# 5. If Mac MS office was made accessible. What functionality would you like to
see. Please be as detailed as possible. For example:
#
# Navigation through the document via character, word, line, sentence,
paragraph, page. This should be done via the standard Mac navigation keystrokes.
#
# Detection and navigation of tables. This must include border detection, text
direction, shading of table, header and column detection, selection of cells,
columns and rows.
I don't have a Mac, nor did I attempt to put MacOS on my PC. LibreOffice is
quite accessible here however, and I will report any bugs I find to this list or
to the LibreOffice bug tracker.
# 6. do you use Outlook for the Mac and if so, what version?
I don't use Outlook on any operating system. My current e-mail applications of
choice are Thunderbird and Seamonkey, which I run on a PC running Arch Linux.
# 7. What issues do you see with the Outlook version?
It doesn't run on Linux, and it's a Microsoft product, most of which generally
don't work well for me. I will grant you that things may have changed over the
years since I've been free of Microsoft, but I like what I'm currently using,
and can't see myself switching to Windows or MacOS just to use Outlook in the
foreseeable future.
# 8. Anything else to add?
The subscribers to the list where you sent these questions are primarily Linux
users, and we all use the Orca screen reader. This list is for discussion of the
Orca screen reader and any issues we find while using it. The applications you
are asking about in your questionaire are incompatible with the operating system
we use, and probably wouldn't be able to talk to our screen reader even if
Microsoft decided to port them. Therefore, this questionaire is entirely
off-topic for this e-mail list. I probably took more time than most people would
to answer the questions you ask, and you won't be able to get much better
answers here for the most part.
