Hey Peter, I want to thank you for that excellent write-up concerning
Orca, Arch and xfce. I've been generally curious about using xfce
instead of gnome but I now have full gnome installed because I want to
use the nautilus dropbox plug-in and stuff so am probably stuck with
gnome right now but sill, I'm glad xfce is a workable alternative and
I may look into it in the near future.
As a further question here, to test latest master, do we have to
install git builds of other a11y stack or can we generally stick with
prod builds of other components? Last time I messed with all the under
pinnings of Orca I ended up having to do a complete re-install of my
system and I really don't wanna go there again.

Hello,
What I have noticed is that QT apps need additional testing after this
refactor.
For example treeviews are not anounced while using VLC. It's not critical,
content is there but the fact treeview is in focus is no longer announced.
I haven't yet tested other more complicated QT vidgets such as comboboxes,
tab controls etc which I remember have accessibility issues no mather which
platform they are running on.
Thanks and greetings
Peter

Hey Storm.
Thanks for the testing and feedback!
Firefox is still kind of slow, but I think the only fix for that, in my
case, may be a new computer.
Maybe; maybe not. The Gecko script is still filled with sad,
non-performant hacks and looking into those is next on my to-do list. In
other words, yes, we are far from done with this early-in-the-cycle
upheaval and possibility of regressions. But there's still hope, even
for the Firefox support.
After I go through all those Gecko hacks, I plan to make the utility and
generator methods more efficient across the board. That should further
speed Orca up in general and hopefully with Firefox as well.
I'm not sure someone using a newer/faster computer will notice this much
of an improvement, but in my case, I would say your recent work is
nothing short of miraculous.
I wouldn't go that far, but your comment made my day. So... Thanks! <smiles>
