Hi Joanie.
I found one more problem.
To reproduce try the following:
1. Launch gedit.
2. Switch the profile to Brazil pt.
3. Type some text.
4. Change to another application.
5. Change back to gedit.
6. Switch the profile to english.
7. Review the text using left and right arrow.

 In my machine the chars are announcedin Brazilian portuguese, using 
Brazil pt as the synthesizer.
