Hi Hank,
It doesn't make a bit of difference what desktop or shell you are
running. Gnome, Unity, Unity 2D, KDE, whatever. Voxin installs the IBM
TTS files to your PC, and then overwrites your copy of speech-dispatcher
with a custom copy with IBM TTS drivers compiled. I'll have to check my
version but I believe it is 0.4.1 as well.
Anyway, the point I wanted to make is all I did was install Voxin,
logout and back into the GUI environment, and Orca just came up talking
using Eloquence instead of ESpeak by default. I didn't have to edit any
configuration files or even switch it in preferences. Voxin
automatically became the default voice.
Since I am unclear as to why the install failed its impossible for me to
say how to fix it at this time. I'll leave that up to someone else who
might have a better handle on this issue.
Cheers!

Hello I am using unity with ubuntu 12.04
I got the latest voxin that was available at purchase, what is needed
to redo the installation and the like? and to use it with unity will I
have to edit the conf file?
any help getting this thing up and running would be appreciated.
if worse comes to worse I could install gnome but I don't like the way
gnome works with ubuntu 12.04 and the fact I have to shut down via
terminal is still a stopping point for gnome besides I am starting to
get the hange some what of unity anyways and would like to stick with it.
my voxin file was around 5 megs extracted it is 8
could it be possible I got the wrong version or something?
Hank
