Re: [orca-list] Update on Gwibber

Hi,

I went home and ran updates on Precise to try and use Gwibber. No
cigar. All I hear using flat review is:

Push button, push button, push button

the menus are really really sparse so, I have no idea how to turn on
the caret. The fact that the "push buttons" are not labeled is also
somewhat concerning. Some guidance on how to set this thing up to get
all the a11y stuff to work would be most appreciated. I love using
Smuxi for Twitter but the idea of using one package for all my
microblogging would be very nice. Right now, I'm using Pidgin for
Facebook IM and a really nice fast and dirty view of my time line on
Twitter. I use Smuxi for more serious Tweeting as it has tabs for
timeline, replies and direct messages. My only gripe is that you have
to manually enter commands for retweets and things but that's no big
deal. Gwibber, on the other hand, would make things more efficient
because I could use it for both Twitter and Facebook. Probably still
use pidgin for IM in Facebook though unless someone can suggest a
better way.

Flat review does work, but there needs to be some more work done on
navigating the timeline with arrow keys, as they create frames that display
each post in the timeline. After talking to the upstream developers a while
back, in order to navigate using arrow keys, gwibber itself needs to be able
to store the last unread post on the timeline, which is not yet possible.
Navigating by arrow keys shoudln't be too difficult to implement, but extra
atk magic may be needed to present the content from each timeline post in a
way that is easy to digest for the user.

* What the move away from WebKitGtk+ and to Gtk+ will mean for

(which presumably they did), things may be worse rather than better.
  Think Evolution.

I am pretty sure they did not. They are using Vala + GTK for most of the UI
now afaik.
