HI Thomas,
I am just curious, will alt + f1 in gnome shell give me the launcher similar to Unity 2d?
Will I get list of commonly used apps?Happy hacking.

Hi Simon,
Sure. You need to look at the Gnome Shell FAQ. It lists a number of
hot keys for navigating the shell. Although, you'll find most of
them familiar already.
For example, alt+control+tab switches between the areas of the
screen that are visible such as the desktop, top panel, and so on.
Alt+tab switches between windows, alt+f4 closes a window, alt+f1 or
the super key open the Dash, alt+f2 opens run, alt+control+left
moves left one workspace, alt+control+right moves right one
workspace, etc. All pretty standard stuff here.
However, as for it solving the issues with your keys I'm not so sure
about that. For a while it seemed to be alright, but after I
rebooted yesterday Gnome-Shell weirded out just like Unity 2D and I
lost the ability to close windows with alt+f4, alt+tab between
windows, etc. So I think there is something wrong with a shared
component that handles keyboard input for all Gnome based shells and
apps.
Cheers!

Hi Thomas,
Maybe that would solve my issues with my keyboard problems?
to install gnome shell i guess i just need the gnome-shell package.
Are there some keyboard shurtcuts around for the start menu or
other places?
greetings,
simon
