When you said GNOME 2 Shell, are you talking about GNOME Panel and so
on? FWIW, GNOME Panel is also available on GNOME 3, although in the
fallback mode. Default option on GNOME 3 is GNOME Shell.

FWIW2, GNOME Shell doesn't use GTK, it uses Clutter, and it is a totally
different thing compared with the combination of GNOME 2 Panel and
window manager.

About his current support, and specifically Orca. Orca recognizes it and
you can interact with it, although there are still several things to
improve. Joanmarie asked me to take a look there. I added some patches
yesterday:
