Dne 5.1.2012 16:37, Joanmarie Diggs napsal(a):
Most of the linux users in Russia use orca with emacspeak speech servers
because they provide multilingual speech output (we, for exaple, can
hear english text via enlish voice and russian text via russian)
AFAIK, this language switching is actually a feature of Voiceman, not the Emacspeak
interface. So my impression is, that the best short time solution would be to create a
generic driver for Speech Dispatcher routing speech from SD to Voiceman. Than you
wouldn't need to maintain the Emacsspeak speech factory throughout Orca speech server
API changes. Writing a generic driver should be simple enough and the limitations of
the generic driver are, up to my knowledge, not any more limiting, than the limitations
of routing speech through the Emacspeak interfacce.
The ideal long term solution would probably be the integration of Voiceman output
drivers into Speech Dispatcher as it was already discussed on the SD list and
implementing the automatic language switching feature of Voiceman within Orca.
Best regards, Tomas
