Unless it got changed from pine, alpine is agnostic that is if you run it
in text mode it runs in text mode and if you run it in gui, it runs in
gui. Pine got its gui for unix/linux working before it got converted to
an app that could run under windows. That's why function keys can either
be enabled or disabled in pine and alpine. The graphical version has
