Re: [orca-list] A last call out for help with Orca resolved

Well see, I set gconf variables a long time ago when I was using gdm
to login. I guess that stuck around for these latest changes with no
negative impact. I never would have given gconf a thought.

Since we're talking about gconf some, can someone tell me the actual
fate of gconf? is it going away or is it being religated to a minor
role or what? Frankly, the simpler things can be and the fewer
different sub systems we have to depend on, the better the system
would run IMHO.

Hi all,
Oh well, every day you learn something new, at least I have done that now.
Since I don't know how to use the gconfig I had to use the gconfig-editor so i went into
/desktop/gnome/interface/accessibility and set it to true and now Firefox is working as it should!
So this should be something that one should be aware of, at least here on Arch linux if one does a new
install and FF is not working as expected.

yes, or its loaded if GNOME_ACCESSIBILITY is set in the enviroment.

true. Probably Arch disabled Gconf support for Firefox as well. At least
for Gentoo I'll add a comment to the above mentioned bug.

or arch got rid of gconf completely, or it just wasn't installed for
some reason.

This is with the firefox that comes with arch linux, soon thinking
about downloading Firefox from Mozillas oficial page just to see if
that would make any difference.

The official Mozilla binaries will most probably work as they are
compiled with Gconf support.

take care
