Here is output from ps, just after I invoke orca.

daniel debian-hp:~$ ps aux|grep at-spi

Here is some more information I've come across:
When I press insert and numpad enter as soon as orca loads, it says,
"Starting orca preferences." When I tab and enter on ok it informs me
that the user settings have been reloaded. Apart from this and the
welcome message, nothing else speaks.

Secondly, I check syslog and see these lines every time I run orca, so
they must be relevant.

Jan 15 20:31:36 debian-hp acpid: client connected from 840[0:0]
Jan 15 20:31:36 debian-hp acpid: 1 client rule loaded
Jan 15 20:31:48 debian-hp acpid: client 840[0:0] has disconnected

If I run ps aux|grep 840 (Maybe not relevant), I get:
root 840 0.4 1.1 18832 12156 tty7 Ss+ 20:28 0:01

Does anyone have any ideas as to why orca isn't working correctly under
lxde for me?

Thanks very much
Dan
