Hi Steve,

if current versions work better for you: There is a bug with certain
window managers and focus. We added a work around in OOo, see

http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=102694 => "more hacking
for metacity..."

Work around should be in upcoming OOo 3.3.

Wrt your observation with entering page numbers in navigator - this
indeed looks like a bug and not like a feature to me.
