Re: [orca-list] Using Orca with root permissions

Hi,

I'm not understanding why this problem should be distribution-related, it
isn't for brltty who gives us an equal accessibility whatever the o s
whichfore it have been packaged.

There are applications enough for Gnome using the keyring or gksu, etc, I
don't understand why Orca should be reduced to a game-alike thing for a too
specific group:
if Orca is a Gnome pack, then Gnome have to fix this because people must be
free to use any distribution, as I use brlty on grml, knoppix, vinux,
debian, etc.

thanx anyway for the Opensolaris info.

Gr,
Labrador.

Hi Labrador:

Unfortunately, this is somewhat off topic from Orca itself.

In my opinion, however, this is unfortunately an accessibility
integration problem with the distributions and you should air your
grievances with them on their discussion lists.

Having said that, the distribution I focus on is OpenSolaris, and we've
done a fair amount of work to make sure accessibility is integrated well
in it:

The discussion group is here, which is where OpenSolaris-specific
discussions should happen:

I found it very frustrated to see that:
- there still isn't possible to run Orca as root under Debian Lenny
- and it also freezes in Ubuntu Intrepid;
hope it won't take about three years before fixing definitely that very bad
problem: as long as not fixed we will need assistance but nobody is paid as
permanent assistant in my daily live!
Please fix!
