enable the root account in booth systems:
type in terminal: sudo nano /etc/gdm/gdm.conf
go down to where it says allowroot=false, change the false to true.
then press ctrl+X then Y then enter to save and exit.
then set root password:
type in terminal sudo passwd root.
press enter
then type your password and press enter. Then type the same password again
and press enter.
then reboot your machine, and login with the username root and the password
you set. Start orca in the normal way and access all the admin apps from
this account.
hope this helps.

Subject: Re: [orca-list] Using Orca with root permissions
I found it very frustrated to see that:
- there still isn't possible to run Orca as root under Debian Lenny
- and it also freezes in Ubuntu Intrepid;
hope it won't take about three years before fixing definitely that very
bad
problem: as long as not fixed we will need assistance but nobody is paid
as
permanent assistant in my daily live!
Please fix!
Grtnx,
L.
