Re: [orca-list] orca suggestion

The problems I have are all espeak-synthesis-driver and gnome-speech related, I think it has to do with alsa/snd_intel-hda causing setfaults. I've seen some systems with integrated AC97 chips where Orca can't even speak an entire sentence without cutting out and in general sounding horrible. Just my $0.02.

This sounds like an interesting feature but frankly, Orca should be
stable enough that it doesn't crash like that and shouldn't require some
baby sitter app out there to kick it back in again. Also with the
current situations that usually cause these crashes, Orca won't start
backup properly when you do a restart. I usually have to kill my X
session and start completely over. What usually happens lately when
restarting Orca, is you hear "Welcome to Orca" and then nothing else. At
that, all I can do is restart the whole X session. your suggested
monitoring tool would work in these situations.

Hi,
I have a suggestion for Orca. Add a routine to constantly monitor if
orca is running. this routine only gets invoked when orca is started
and running. if orca shts off, it will restart itself like voiceover
restarts itself for the mac.
