Re: [orca-list] Emacs and Orca again

Tomas,

This unfortunantly doesn't work for me. I guess this is similar to what I
was doing by starting emacs from the console. Apparently whatever made this
work in emacs22 doesn't work in emacs23.

I'll try loading up emacs22 to confirm this.

At least if we can nail it down to a behavior change between emacs22 and 23
we may be able to give the developers a pointer.

If this is effecting emacs-gtk when orca isn't running I must ask the
question does this effect everyone trying to run emacs under gnome, which I
struggle to believe is true, or is this somehow an interaction with
accessibility support?

Is there anyone out there that can try this with and without accessibility
support in gnome enabled. If it only happens when support is on then that
is another pointer we have to the issue.

Regards

Bart

I've briefly chased through the bug and I'm not sure if it is metacity
or emacs. My suspicion is that it is an emacs main loop problem as
mentioned in http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=392889#c18.

I didn't read the bug at all, so I don't know if it is related, but I
have the following script to be able to run GTK Emacs in Gnome:

#!/bin/bash
unset GTK_MODULES
/usr/bin/emacs22-gtk $*

Without this hack, the desktop freezes randomly when I run GTK Emacs
(with or even without orca running).

Hope it helps, Tomas
