Hi,
Firefox shipped with intrepid works if 
/apps/gnome_settings_daemon/gtk-modules/gail:atk-bridge 
is not set.
Sorry my line in my previous mail is wrong and didn't delete this
completely.

You can do this using gconf-editor.
1. open gconf-editor
2. ctrl+f for search and type gtk-modules
3. tab to the result and press space.
4. delete the value by pressing space and press enter.

After that firefox works again but no shutdown dialogue and no loggoff
 window is accessible.
Running programms as root using sudo is inaccessible too.
