Hi,
when starting with autodetecting the driver type:
brltty -b auto
Do you connect the display via usb or usb2serial? When connecting via
usb directly type:
brltty -d usb:
Your syntax is for usb2serial.
To adjust your startup settings take a look at /etc/brltty.conf
What's teh result of
update-rc.d brltty defaults
Does the display start with the system?
What's the result of 
cat /etc/default/brltty
