I also had tried gnopernicus and it did not work.
You might want to consider gnopernicus and orca are rather fussy and
tempermental if they are not started correctly. For example, for
whatever reason if you run orca or gnopernicus from the run dialog they
will completely crash gnome-panel and then the desktop.
The safest way to start gnopernicus or orca is by opening gnome-terminal
and from in gnome terminal attempt to launch the screen reader you want.
Also it has been my experience if gnome's system sounds are on it will
cause problems with orca and gnopernicus, and they will remain silent
while sounds are playing.
A case in point where this will crash the screen reader is gaim when
send or recieve notifications sound orca will suddenly die, and has to
be restarted. To avoid it I just turn those sounds off.
now I need to disable it if I want to run orca right?
I need some clarification on what you mean disable it. How are you
starting gnopernicus? Do you have the screen reader option checked in
the gnome accessibility settings? If so you will need some sighted
assistance getting that check box unchecked if you want gnopernicus not
to load automatically. If you are using a session then you will need to
delete gnopernicus from your list of sessions that come up on login.
please suggest me the short cut keys for disabling gnopernicus and loging out.
Well, there isn't really any easy way of doing this without
speech.Especially, just by keyboard alone. To quit gnopernicus ifyou are
in the window I believe the command is alt+q.
To logout properly you need to use your screen reader to get to the
proper menu and do it that way. If you are in a rush and need to logout
without speech alt+control+backspace will crash you out of gnome and
back to your gdm login screen.
thanks,
Krishnakant.
