An interesting thing: When I unplug the cable from eth0, I get the
following lines in /var/log/syslog:

Apr 22 15:51:36 fly NetworkManager: <information>^ISWITCH: terminating
current connection 'eth0' because it's no longer valid.
Apr 22 15:51:36 fly NetworkManager: <information>^IDeactivating device eth0.
Apr 22 15:51:37 fly NetworkManager: nm_device_is_802_3_ethernet:
assertion `dev != NULL' failed
Apr 22 15:51:37 fly NetworkManager: nm_device_is_802_11_wireless:
assertion `dev != NULL' failed

I don't know whether this is in any way related; just wanted to let you
know.
