I can only agree with this idea. I've been using Nemiver to debug
Audacious and some of my apps, and it's been really helpful.
Good, some user feedback :)
One thing that could be useful though (but I can only imagine the amount
of work required for it) would be to split the lower pane so that users
could show more "stuff" down there. I think having both the frame/stack
and the variables tab next to each other would be a nice addition.
Yes, I agree that the current layout is not optimal. It would be nice
to be able to see several things onscreen at once. Personally, I'd
eventually like to see a more general 'docking' solution, so that the
user can arrange the different widgets where he or she wants them, but
that will take a lot of work and is some way off yet. The question is
then, how much work do we want to put into a slightly better but also
non-optimal arrangement? And what is the best way to improve it? Do
we simply split the bottom pane and put a fixed set of tabs in each
half? Or let the user choose which tabs to put in which half? I'm
not sure yet. Anyone else have any ideas?
Also, when opening a source file, the selected tab stays on the same
source file. I think it'd be better to select the source I just opened.
I believe that should be fixed if you update to the latest svn :)
Marko Anastasov added a patch for this in the last day or two.
I'll finish this with a question : how comes sometimes some symbols are
missing, or show up later when I run a program? The function parameters
don't always appear either. (But that's a gdb issue, as Nemiver behaves
exactly like gdb) Are there ways to force all symbols to show up? (I
have several test cases for that, it can be annoying to "guess" some values)
Have you tried compiling without any optimization? I think autotools
generally default to -O2 or something, if you try with -O0, do all the
symbols show up as you would expect?
Anyway, thanks for the 0.2.0 release, it's already a pleasure to use
Nemiver.
great. Thanks for your input.
