The point of using MC, I assumed, was to avoid having to use
the mouse. How do I select text and put it into the system
clipboard with the keyboard?
Maybe not directly, but you can do it via the clipboard file.
In the first MC edit session select the text with F3, then press Ctrl-F, and
press Enter.
In the second MC edit session press Shift-F5, then press Enter. Voilà!
You may find the MC edit commands in the F9 menu.
