Re: Request for comment (marketing team): release date for GNOME 3.0

One of the things we need to figure out how to do well is to promote
3.0 with our downstream partners.

The problem is that we will come out with GNOME 3.0 and there will be
a lot of press and excitement but most of our users won't have access
to it until our downstream partners release it at least 6 months
later. They are going to want to make a splash then.

So we need a marketing campaign that can build up to GNOME 3.0 release
and then carry the hype on until it's available to end users. And do
so in a way that the downstream companies' marketing can also
participate.
