Python build breakages could be because you need to set the PYTHON environment for those modules that use python2. Zeitgeist for instance is pretty old and has not seen a lot of updates as there is on maintainer.
I was able to build the complete set of sources all the way up to zeitgeist. The only change I had to make was a python2 script that was running under 3.0. Once I forced it to use python2.7, it worked great.
