Hey,
the age groups were simply what felt sensible to me. That said, it
seems sane to me to have something that lies outside normal retirement
ages.
We only had 2 people selecting ">= 50" last year, so adding it is
mostly for completeness sake.
Asking for the exact age just didn't seem to add anything and I
strongly believe that one should never collect data if one doesn't have
any immediate use for it.

The mockup reproduces the options that are on last year's website. I
don't actually know the origin of that part of the form, why those
age groups were used, or what the data is going to be used for. Does
anyone from last year's organising team know?
Since we're on this subject, is there any reason not to just ask for
the respondent's age? That's certainly more flexible and useful as a
form of data.
