As for us, I'd say:
- anti aliased fonts
- some better looking widgets, better theming
- far better i18n handling (utf8, non left-to-right languages
  etc)
- you can't use an older library for too long (problems regarding
  maintainance of the library)

I may have forgotten things though :).
