Well, the decision for now is to trust the GTK+ team :-) That being
said, the release team will monitor what's going on to make sure this
decision will still be the right one.

(one problem, I guess, is that GTK+ 2.12 will probably get unmaintained
once 2.14 is out and 2.14 will most probably be out before the end of
life of GNOME 2.24)
