If by GI-stable you mean their latest release, they haven't tagged any
version since the 0.9.3[1]. They have been bumping the versions up to
0.9.5[2], but the commit message states that that's not an "official"
release. Debian (testing) and Ubuntu 10.04's versions are around 0.6
As for the compatibility, I need to test it more thoroughly, but I
think we'd have problems with the way they treat the prefixes right
now.
