Right. And as I said I do not know any way to fix it universally. IIRC
there is no such thing as "locale of remote X server". So remote xterm
would use whatever his locale is (according to his own envvars,
regardless of the envvars of the local X applications).
The best thing we could do is setup (again, can be done in
gnome-session!) some property(s) of the root window
(X.LANG/X.LC_MESSAGES or smth) and count on the apps to use it.
Additionally, gtk/glib could be modified to take these envvars into
account - so at least remote gtk apps would use that information. But
you cannot make remote xterm work properly, to the best of my
knowledge.
