But this would only help if the properties have a sane unit (just think
of the bitrate property... at some places it's bps, somewhere else it's
kbps, etc).
It also allows to show widgets conditionally (i.e. only show the bitrate
slider if we've selected wavpack's lossy mode for example).

Banshee's media profiles allows to specify for each profile a few gtk
widgets (not as powerful as glade of course ;) ) and can do the
calculations in the lisp-dialect.

So you could a) only show the user the properties he wants and b) show
him the properties in a unit he understands.
