What are error messages then?  'Illegal move' in chess should
definitely be translated. 'Could not connect to server' should be
translated also.  A message about not being able to access some file
should also be translated.  I don't think there are a lot of errors
where it makes sense to keep them in English.

Thousands, most of which we'll get rid of by separating out the schemas.
