Re: CVS-Georgia

ááááááááá Vladimer and the Georgian team! :)

You should see your status pages change, next time they are updated (3 times a day).

I have added and committed the ka.po files for the following modules:

evolution
gnome-control centre
ekiga
file-roller
gdm2
gnome-applets
gnome-desktop
gnome-keyring
gnome-media
gnome-menus
gnome-netstatus
gnome-panel
gnome-session
gnome-terminal
gnome-volume-manager
libwnck
metacity
nautilus-cd-burner
nautilus
sound-juicer
totem
atk
gail
glib
gtk+
gtk+-properties
libgnomecanvas
libgnomeui
gnome-app-install
atomix
deskbar-applet
gnome-power-manager
gnome-screensaver
nautilus-sendto

I could not commit the following files, because I don't think they are Gnome files, or if they are, I don't know where to put them:

burn
coreutils (this is maintained at the Translation Project: http:// www.iro.umontreal.ca/translation/HTML/index.html)
gaim (has its own project)
gnomebaker (do you mean "bakery"?)
language-selector
serpentine
synaptic
update-notifier (do you mean "update-manager"?)
vlc
xchat-gnome (the main xchat translation is maintained at the Translation Project)

Notes:

1.
Your files were in good translation condition, which helped me commit them: they did not contain any remaining errors ... except for the atk file, which had no line-breaks (fixed and committed), and the header block.

2.
The headers need to be correct, to provide information about the translation, and so the build does not get broken by the translation file.

2a.
The reason your plurals fields haven't been appearing correctly, is that in nearly every file, the plurals header was either missing, or was missing the \n line break character on the end of that line, before the quotation mark. This line-break was also often missing at the end of the Content-Transfer-Encoding header. gettext is fussy about these things.

2b.
The language-team name and email address needs to be consistent across your Gnome files. I replaced older email addresses with <ka li org>, but you need to decide which address to use for Gnome.

2c.
The copyright string must start with "# Copyright  YEAR", and that year can apply to more than one person or organization mentioned after it. You need to agree on the project copyright, and it is not suitable to use translator names or email addresses here.

2d.
You need to make sure there is at least one translator name and email address in the top part of the header. Use correct names in translator fields (not nicknames or aliases), and only one email address. Do not include months, only years. The most recent translator should come last.

I had to guess the translator in some cases where this header was missing, or the whole top header block was missing.

I actually credited David Lodge as translator in one or two files, until I worked out that he was the English translator left there by mistake. You will need to remove him later. I didn't realize he wasn't supposed to be there, until I saw his name with the English team address.

3.
When you name your files individually, name them PROGRAM.BRANCH.ka.po. This is how they are named on the status pages. When you download an updated file from those pages, it will be called, for example, evolution.HEAD.ka.po
Inside the .po directories, your files are just "ka.po", but outside them, this naming convention is useful.

4.
Here is a suggested header block for your PO files. You can change the copyright and team details if you decide to choose something else. I spent a lot of time today correcting your headers, so I hope you don't mind me recommending this header block. ;)

5. I hope you will have your CVS worked out, to commit updates to these files, or to add and commit new files, but if you don't have it worked out yet, and have some files that need committing, please point me to them, or send them to me.

You will notice, on the status pages, when they update, that the current files have changed quite a bit already, but it won't take you long to catch up. I, too, will be happy to see your pages with some green!

Good luck with your translations! :)
