Borrowing other translations (Re: Klingon localization of GNOME)

So I don't know anything about the OOo translation procedure and
format of the files. But I know that the answer is yes.

Because someone took all the strings (and the English strings 
they referred to) from OOo, KDE, Gnome and Mozilla and put them
into some giant database for Welsh.

So if you try to do this and the procedure is not obvious, I can 
ask them how they did it.

The only thing to check is that the people who did those translations
are happy with you doing that. I don't know whether that's
necessary, but it's certainly polite!

For files which are all translated using GNU gettext and friends,
there is the ability to make and use compendia, the details of
which are buried in 'info gettext'.
