Good point.  Updating plugins that are already installed is a common
activity that it would be nice to handle well.  I like how Mozilla plugins
are fairly smart about such things.  But I also like to keep things simple,
and would like this to work as much as possible with plugin distributions as
they are.  So I will have to study the subject a little.

I haven't received any feedback that such a thing is already planned, so
it's looking likely that I will go ahead.
