Re: [gedit-list] plugin makefiles? (gedit 2.12)

Hi Paolo,

Thanks for digging up that link from your archive. I must have missed
it. I've had a look at the glade files, and read the thread (except the
long IRC chat). I thought the design was really nice.

My view is that it would be great to have all that power through the GUI
but I would really love to see *anything* for now. Most of all, I want
to be able to launch external tools (not necessary pure console apps,
perhaps console+gui apps) and to capture the output and then have
clickable regular expressions in the output.

There needs to be the ability for the tools to prompt for additional
parameters, for example to pass search strings to 'grep'.

I think that this fairly simple thing adds huge power to gedit very
cheaply. I think the 'jump to next' this is a great one too -- did you
see that?

If there's any way we could have an easy-to-compile, easy-to-install
version of Rafael's plugin to go on with, one that I could install
without having to recompile the whole of gedit, then that would be very
much appreciated.

Cheers,
JP
