Which is why the README says that a new user should change the directory
to desktop/ before typing the 'make install' command.

A solution to this that protects new users, might be to have a 'make
install' from the / directory print a warning that says:

"You are running 'make install' in the top-level directory, this is
probably not what you want"

...or something :)
