The irony of this is, of course that the current CVS version is actually
the same as the 0.8.5 release.

After i'd added the '>' character in the last weekly revision,
gst-register should have worked (as opposed to redirecting your registry
to /dev/null) -- did you clear your .gstreamer directory before running
the new build, by any chance?
