Re: GNU hackers meeting & GUADEC 2011 colocation?

Hi,

I am increasingly thinking that being excessively connected virtually is
blurring the lines with the real physical connections we have in our
lives, which are objectively better than virtual connections. I now
regularly have completely disconnected weekends, evenings and holidays,
and I feel better for it.

I'd love to see us run a retreat for GNOME with no internet connection &
see what happened. ISTR an Ubuntu developer meeting had no internet
once, and the day went so well that it was suggested there should be a
no-internet retreat day every year. Don't know what happened to that idea.

Anyway - I for one would love to see us gather together someplace with
no cellular coverage, no internet access, living in tents, and everyone
bring lots of paper, markers and pens, and see what happens. Bet it'd be
a success. We could call it "Get a First Life Camp" in honour of the
most excellent (and apparently no longer online)

Cheers,
Dave.
