True, but F-Spot stores all the tag in standard XMP format embedded in
the photos, so you will still be able to get the tags.
Also, F-Spot stores all the photos in date order by default (unless you
choose to just link to the original location), so you will be able to
find the photos anyway nicely.

If you do not tag the persons and locations it will be much more
difficult to find a particular photo a few years down the track. I would
strongly suggest you tag them as I described above, and ensure that the
tags are stored in a standard way embedded in the photo. Otherwise you
will be locked to the particular software for sure.
