I tried with the message you sent me and both when I see it as part of
the attachment and when I import it as a separate message, it is shown
properly here (see attached screenshot).

I'd not expect too much difference between local Maildir (where I
imported it) and IMAP, also because I received your message through
IMAP, though as an attachment.

What do you see instead of those fancy emoji icons, please?

I tried with the current development version of evolution (to be 3.31.1
the next week) and webkit2gtk3-2.20.2-1. The part shown in message
preview is fully drawn by WebKitGTK+ and when talking about it, it
reminded me of https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=789264 .

Does at least the message list show the emojis properly, similar to
what I see?
