I don't set up a new account; I just delete the indexes with a script.
It is a really basic script, that I have posted before.  I can send it
to you if you want.  When I restart evo, it takes about 10-15 minutes to
rebuild the indexes.  I have about 6000 item in my inbox and maybe a
dozen other folders.

I don't need the script... unless you have one named fast_rebuild_indexes.  ;)
My original half-serious joke was that if there is a need to perform some
operation frequently in a GUI application (like deleting indexes), it
is more user
friendly to have support for doing the operation built in to the application.
Yes, people can read the mailing list and bug reports and find your script and
run it.  But the biggest advantages of open source is its openness... even
about its bugs.  If a serious bug can't be fixed before a release and there is
a workaround, build the workaround into the application and document it in
the man page and --help output.  Don't make people fish through list archives
for the solution.
